I’ve always loved Safari for the apple computers. It’s always been easy to use. It hasn’t always been the fastest browser in the world , but honestly that has NEVER bothered me. It’s been user friendly for years. I loved when they integrated  the search bar with URL bar. That was a major advance.

The mistake Apple made for the website designer:

That being said, Safari Version 8 is URL/Search bar update with it self centering with the main URL is a HUGE mistake. What you see in the main URL is now not your actual location. This looks nice an all, but anyone that uses this bar as a navigational  tool like a website designer will soon HATE this version of Safari! You have to wait for it to Javascript refresh in some flashy way just to type/edit the URL.

What the user sees:

Below is the main URL that the user in on. I can see this would be good for people that are not versed in using the web. This may actually help to prevent phishing scams, and this maybe the only reason other than esthetics this this is being used. But for web designers like me, this is a major negative when navigating!

The actual URL:

Below is an image of the actual location that the user is located on the web. It actually hides it from the user.

  2. Thank you Cindy Abel!

I’ve marked this issue I had as “SOLVED”. I’m so glad you shared this with me. For some reason didn’t even look in the preferences (quite odd for me).

    Thanks,
    Aaron
